Are you mounting items on your roof property?
From solar panels to rooftop decks, there are a lot of addons and advantages to having things mounted to your roof, from energy upgrades to fun hangout spaces. But in the event of a natural disaster and wind-related event, it’s important to understand how to attach them properly so that they don’t cost you in the long run.
For solar panels, make sure you’ve followed all of the necessary instructions and reinforce with safety clips or straps to main areas of your roof. If there are any loose shingles or damage to the roof, try mounting them in a separate area to prevent cracks, movement, and other damages.
For decks, balconies, and any similar infrastructure, making sure their foundation is as cleancut as the foundation of the property is crucial. Make sure all connection points are sealed and caulked, as well as any furniture or loose objects tied down in the event of a storm.
In a similar fashion, we thought it might be critical to talk about the gutters of the roof. It is equally important to attach gutters in the same way, with ties and clamps that secure them to the roof’s key anchor points. Make sure they are cleared of debris and that the touch points don’t have underlying weaknesses like curling or broken clamps.
